Un nuovo Museo per una storia lunga millenni
Sabato 6 e domenica 7 luglio 2019 inaugura il nuovo Museo delle Palafitte del Lago di Ledro, una struttura di ultima concezione, che valorizza al meglio una parte del Patrimonio UNESCO

Preparativi e lavori non conoscono sostaa Ledro dove - il prossimo 6 e 7 luglio - inaugura il nuovo allestimento del Museo delle Palafitte che si offre al pubblico più luminoso e aperto che mai. Il nuovo Museo è frutto di un importante investimento da parte della Provincia autonoma di Trento che, ancora una volta, conferma attenzione al tema cultura, sensibilità nei confronti del patrimonio e della storia locale, lungimiranza nel promuovere e sostenere un alto livello di qualità della vita, in ogni zona del territorio locale.
All’interno del nuovo allestimento, grazie a una interpretazione museografica contemporanea, che si basa su concetti quali dinamismo, trasparenza, leggerezza, immediatezza, spettacolarità e inclusione, il filo della trama espositiva corre da un reperto all’altro, per ricostruire e cucire insieme gli aspetti personali e locali con quelli sociali e globalidella vita sulle palafitte. Il programma dell’inaugurazione prevede due giorni di festa con visite guidate, spettacoli, laboratori e concerti, nei quali ben si colloca una special edition delle Palafittiadi® olimpiadi della preistoria. Questo appuntamento - che è un grande e apprezzato classico dell’estate a Ledro - quest’anno è infatti targato UNESCO.
Dal 2011 Ledro è parte del patrimonio mondiale dell’UNESCO denominato “Siti palafitticoli preistorici dell’arco alpino”. I 111 siti che condividono questo riconoscimento prestigioso sono distribuiti sul territorio alpino fra Svizzera,Austria,Francia, Germania, Italia e Slovenia. 19 sono i siti italiani e si trovano inFriuli Venezia Giulia (1) Lombardia (10),Piemonte (2), Trentino Alto Adige (2)eVeneto (4).
Il Museo delle Palafitte di Ledro è un caso rilevantissimo nel quadro della museologia contemporanea – spiega il direttore del MUSE Michele Lanzinger. Progettato e gestito per tanti anni come un semplice antiquarium dedicato a esporre una limitata selezione di reperti e con la funzione di controllo degli accessi al sito palafitticolo, la sua funzione è cambiata radicalmente grazie alla fantasia e all’impegno di una vivacissima squadra di curatori che hanno riletto la funzione verso nuovi traguardi. Il museo è diventato progressivamente un luogo dove si pratica intensamente l’azione educativa con scuole che giungono da tutto il settentrione e, negli anni, si è dimostrato capace di produrre importanti programmi ed eventi per il pubblico al punto di assumere un ruolo di promotore di turismo locale di altissima importanza. La stessa inaugurazione, che si dipanerà in due giornate fitte di appuntamenti, conferma lo stile e il modo di fare di un museo pensato soprattutto per i suoi visitatori e non solo per i materiali conservati. Rimane da sottolineare la qualità architettonica del rifacimento delle esposizioni e quella dell’ampliamento della struttura. Finalmente il museo, con i suoi oltre 45 mila visitatori all’anno, avrà lo spazio per ospitare adeguatamente le proprie attività educative e potrà produrre esposizioni temporanee capaci di rinnovare l’interesse anno dopo anno, per le sue iniziative espositive. I ringraziamenti vanno alla squadra che vi lavora con impegno e costanza, agli architetti e le aziende che hanno collaborato e infine alle istituzioni, tra le quali la Provincia autonoma di Trento che ha sostenuto i costi della realizzazione e il Comune di Ledro che ha sostenuto nei fatti il miglioramento, anche degli intorni, di questo splendido museo.
IL PROGRAMMA DELLA FESTA DI INAUGURAZIONE
La grande festa inizia SABATO 6 LUGLIO, alle 14.00, con l’inaugurazione ufficiale del nuovo Museo. Dopo il taglio del nastro si possono visitare gli spazi riallestiti, la mostra temporanea “Pile-dwellings around the Alps” e i punti di animazione e degustazione posizionati nel parco.
Alle 21.00gran finale con lo spettacolo di musica e danza “Il gesto di Saba” della compagnia LAM di Rovereto.
Il giorno successivo, DOMENICA 7 LUGLIO alle 10.00, ecco la Log boat Regatta UNESCO: sfida a colpi di remi, su canoe scavate nel legno, fra le rappresentanze dei 6 Paesi iscritti nel sito seriale: “Palafitte preistoriche dell’arco alpino”.
La sfida, che è partita 4 anni fa sulle acque del lago Biel, in Svizzera è passata l’anno successivo in Austria, sul lago Mondsee; poi in Francia sul lago di Aiguebelette, lo scorso anno si è svolta sul fiume Ljubljanicain Slovenia e quest’anno approda in Italia, sul lago di Ledro.
Alle 14.00, parte la grande sfida dedicata alle famiglie più ardimentose, le divertentissime Palafittiadi® – olimpiadi della preistoria, una serie di competizioni che impegnano tutti, principianti ed esperti, in specialità preistoriche. Tra queste, il tiro con l’arco, l’accensione del fuoco, l’impasto dell’argilla, la tessitura e la gara con la canoa. Le specialità nelle quali le squadre si confrontano riprendono attività che quotidianamente i palafitticoli svolgevano circa 4000 anni fa nel villaggio.
Alle 18.00 la grande festa termina con il concerto rock di “Olly Riva and the Magnetics”
LE SPECIALITÀ DELLE PALAFITTIADI® LE OLIMPIADI DELLA PREISTORIA, UNESCO SPECIAL EDITION
Tirare con l’arco
Cinque sono gli archi trovati a Ledro, le dimensioni sono modeste e il loro valore scientifico è straordinario. Gli archi impiegati nella competizione sono il risultato di laboratori estivi che, dal 1998, hanno portato alla produzione di strumenti di varie fogge e proporzioni: agli sfidanti il compito di scegliere l’arco giusto per fare centro.
Accendere il fuoco
L’accensione del fuoco è la specialità più suggestiva, quella che richiede la più alta concentrazione dei giocatori che, sfregando energicamente legni di diversa consistenza, devono produrre brace in candescente per ricavarne la fiamma… come dei veri preistorici!
Modellare l’argilla
Per gli olimpionici, il divertimento consiste nel modellare l’argilla e darle la forma di uno dei reperti esposti nel museo, copia in argilla di un vasetto che veniva prodotto a Micene, in oro, testimonianza che la moda influenzava la produzione già 4000 anni fa.
Tessere
Ai concorrenti viene richiesto di creare un tessuto intrecciando il filo della trama sui fili dell’ordito. La difficoltà è dovuta all’utilizzo dei fili di lana i quali, più fragili e meno lisci dei fili di lino, costringono i giocatori a lavorare con delicatezza oltre che precisione.
Guidare la canoa
Ricavata da un unico pezzo di abete largo 70 cm e lungo più di 5 metri, la canoa è la regina dei reperti in legno portati alla luce a Ledro durante gli scavi degli anni ’60.
Impugnare la pagaia, affondarla nell’acqua verde del lago, spingerla via con tutta la forza che si possiede tenendo il ritmo con i compagni di squadrae condurre la canoa, copia del reperto, a doppiare una boa posta a 100 metri dalla riva: un gioco da preistorici!
Dipingere il corpo
Ocre e polveri colorate vanno usati per disegnare sui corpi segni e simboli dai più semplici ai più complessi che la creatività suggerisce ai palafitticoli in gara.

Preparation and work continues relentlessly at Ledro where, on 6 and 7 July, the new interiors of the Pile Dwelling Museum will open to the public, even lighter and airier than before. This new museum is the result of heavy investment by the Autonomous Province of Trento, which, once again, confirms its attention to culture, its sensibility to local heritage and history, and its farsightedness in promotion and support at high levels of quality of life, throughout the local area.
Thanks to contemporary museum design based on concepts such as dynamism, transparency, lightness, immediacy, spectacularity and inclusion, the interiors of this new layout lead visitors through the exhibition from one display to the next, reconstructing and weaving togetherall the aspects, personal and local, social and global, of life in the pile dwellings. The programme for the inauguration sees two days of celebration, with guided visits, shows, workshops and concerts, and includes the perfectly apt special edition of thePalafittiadi®the Pre-historic Olympics. This appointment, a very popular classic of the Ledro summer, is in fact this year all about UNESCO, thanks to a special agenda that also features a canoe race, involving the 6towns in the UNESCO series of pile-dwelling sites.
Since 2011, Ledro has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site called the “Alpine prehistoric pile-dwelling sites" .The 111 sites that share this prestigious award are across the Alps between Switzerland,Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia. 19 are Italian sites and are located in Friuli Venezia Giulia (1), Lombardy (10), Piedmont (2), Trentino Alto Adige (2)andVeneto (4).
“The Ledro Pile-Dwelling Museum is a very important example of contemporary museum,” explains the director of MUSE Michele Lanzinger.“It was designed and managed for many years as a simple museum of antiquities with a small selection of exhibits and the task of checking access to the pile-dwelling site. Its function has now changed radically thanks to the imagination and the efforts of a lively team of curators who have redirected its purpose towards new milestones. The museum has gradually become a place where education is a prime focus, with school trips coming here from all over northern Italy and, over the years, it has shown it is capable of staging important programmes and events for the public, to the extent that it has taken on a highly important role as a promoter for local tourism. The inauguration itself, which will pan out over two days packed with events, confirms the style and the methodology of a museum designed primarily for its visitors and not just as a showcase for its exhibits. The architectural quality of its renovated displays and expansion of the building must be highlighted. Attracting more than 45,000 visitors a year, this museum will finally have the room it needs to host its educational activities and be able to put on temporary displays thatrenew visitor interest year after year, for its exhibition initiatives. Thanks go to the team who work here with commitment and constancy, to the architects and companies that have collaborated and, finally, to the institutions, including the Autonomous Province of Trento, which funded the project and the Ledro Town Council, which implemented the improvements carried out to this splendid museum and its surroundings.
THE PROGRAMMEFOR THE INAUGURATION CELEBRATIONS:
The fun starts on SATURDAY 6 JULY, at 2.00 pm, with official inauguration of the new museum and cutting of the ribbon, after which it will be possible to visit the refurbished interiors and the temporary exhibition “Pile-dwellings around the Alps”, with entertainment and refreshments in various points all over the park.
The grand finale is scheduled for 9.00 pm with the music and dance show “Il gesto di Saba” performed by the LAM company fromRovereto.
The next day,SUNDAY 7 JULYat 10 am, the UNESCOLog Boat Regatta will take place, a rowing competition in canoesdug out of wood between the representatives of the 6 countries belonging to the serial site: “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps”
This race, which first took place 4 years ago on the waters of Lake Biel, in Switzerland, the following year moved to Lake Mondsee in Austria, then to France and Lake Aiguebelette, last year was held on the Ljubljanica Riverin Slovenia and this year comes to Italy and LakeLedro.
Later, at 2.00 pm, the great challenge for more courageous families starts with the highly entertaining Palafittiadi®, the Prehistoric Olympics,aseriesof competitions for everyone, beginners and experts alike, involving prehistoric specialities. These include archery, fire lighting, clay modelling, weaving and canoe racing. All these different tasks undertaken by the teams are activities that the pile dwellers carried out daily some 4000 years ago in this village.
These wonderful celebrations draw to a close at 6.00 pm with a rock concert by “Olly Riva and the Magnetics”
THE SPECIALITIES IN THE PALAFITTIADI®,THE UNESCO SPECIAL EDITION OF THE PREHISTORIC OLYMPICS
Archery
Five bows have been found in Ledro, modest in size but of extraordinary scientific value.
The bows used in the competition were made during summer workshops that, since 1998, have seen the production of tools of various shapes and sizes and entrants will have to choose the right bow for hitting the bullseye.
Fire lighting
Fire lighting is the most exciting of these specialities, the one that calls for the mostconcentration from entrants, who will have to energetically rub sticks of wood of different consistencies together to produce hot embers and then flames… just like real prehistoric people!
Clay modelling
For these Olympic games, the fun consists in modelling clay to make a copy of one of the museum exhibits, in turn a copy of a vase originally made in gold in Mycenae, proof that fashion influenced manufacture even 4000years ago.
Weaving
Entrants will be called on to make cloth by weaving the weft thread through the warp threads. The difficulty here is that the woollen threads used are more fragile and not as smooth as linen ones, forcing competitors to work carefully as well as accurately.
Canoe racing
Dug out of a single piece of pine 70 cm wide and over 5 metres long, the canoe is the queen of all the wooden finds brought to light in Ledro during the digging in the sixties.
Entrants will have to grip their paddles, dipping them into the green waters of the lake and pushing with all their might, while keeping the same rhythm as their team members to guide their canoe, a copy of the original, out to a buoy set 100 metres from the bank and back: prehistoric fun and games!
Body painting
Competing pile dwellers will draw on their creativity, and use ochre and coloured powders to paint signs and symbols on their bodies, from the simplest to the most complicated.
